At Hickathrift Press, we are champions of quality writing and fine books. Here you can escape from the hype and drivel of the modern publishing world, safe in the knowledge that our authors are genuinely passionate about words and the reading experience.
When you visit this website or read our books, you are guaranteed a celebrity-free experience.
Our pool of talented writers includes a lifelong journalist, a former head of English at an inner-city comprehensive school, and a vicar’s wife whose naughty poetry will have you doubled over with laughter. We also boast an artist whose creativity and humour know no bounds.
Cottage Industry?
We describe ourselves as a publishing cottage because we’re much too modest to call ourselves a publishing house. At the time of writing, we have eight titles in print, but we hope to at least double the size of our online bookshelf by the end of 2026. To make it easy, all our titles are available on Amazon in paperback, hardback, and Kindle e-book formats. Signed copies of some are available directly from our authors.
This website showcases our fine books, yet it is more than just an online bookshop. We see it as a gathering place for like-minded souls who love quality words, art and design, and care about books. It’s still early days, but we plan to create a community where we can meet and share our passion for literature, and review books by other authors and publishers we approve of.
